TAE40110 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

Overview:

This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

Achievement of this qualification by trainers and assessors is a requirement of the current RTO Standards.

This qualification, or the skill sets derived from units of competency within it, is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program.

While there are no prerequisites for this qualification, it is expected that the learner is engaged in a training and education environment, or has a vocational skill at a level that supports training and education, in the subject area in which they intend to teach.

Job roles associated with this qualification relate to the delivery of training and assessment of competence within the VET sector. Possible job titles and roles relevant to this qualification include:

Units of Competency:

For the award of this qualification, 10 units are required (seven 7 core units and three elective units) made up as follows:

  • TAEDES401A Design and develop learning programs
  • TAEDES402A Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs
  • TAEDEL401A Plan, organise and deliver group based learning
  • TAEDEL402A Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace
  • BSBCMM401A Make a presentation
  • TAEASS401B Plan assessment activities and processes
  • TAEASS402B Assess competence
  • TAEASS403B Participate in assessment validation
  • TAEASS301B Contribute to assessment
  • TAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills

Course duration and delivery:

Part time:  The course is delivered over 17 weeks one night per week, from 6pm to 9pm each week. Courses run at the Laverton Community Hub.

Full time:  The course is delivered over 2 weeks (5 days a week) from 8am to 5pm each day. Courses run in Melbourne CBD.

You will be given time during the training sessions to complete assessment requirements, however there is also a large component of work that needs to be completed outside of the training sessions.

To achieve the qualification you will need to be prepared to dedicate sufficient time at home to complete the required work.  You will also need access to a computer and the internet, and have basic computer and word processing skills.

You will also need sound language and literacy skills to complete the assessment requirements for this qualification.

 

Credit transfer:

Credit transfer will be given for units listed on Certificates or statements of attainment issued by a registered Training Organisation that carry the same code and name as those listed for this qualification.

Equivalence will be awarded for units from TAA40104, in accordance with the TAE10 Training Package.

 

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process to acknowledge learners’ existing skills and knowledge relevant to individual units in the qualification. Learners applying for recognition will be required to provide evidence of current competence, including recent VET experience, relevant to the performance criteria of the unit/s for which recognition is sought. The learning facilitator will provide guidance and templates to assist in the recognition process. Recognition is awarded for whole units only.
